Jane, there is nothing more that I'd like than to see you later. How about I take you to dinner? There's a place that looks like it has [ hm ] Italian food. And I think that would be nice.
[ He shows up dressed nice, but comfortably and knocks on her door. He has nothing in his hands, but his familiar has been making some appearance since he's been pretty agitated. He, in part, feels a little responsible for the fact that Medea had threatened her at all.
But, he expressed himself to her about it because it had to be known. He knows seeing Jane will lighten his mood. And in part that was why he had even mentioned it a little bit.
He hopes it eases her mind, too. Even if just a little. ]
[Seeing him looking nothing less than his usual self provokes a kind of relief that surprises her with its intensity. As soon as she opens the door she moves in close, wrapping her arms tight around his waist and resting her head against his chest.
Mm.
Her fingers curl into the back of his clothes, and she sighs.]
[ She must have a superpower. It's an immediate determination when he feels her get close to him. He had leftover irritation from speaking with Medea, from finding out what happened, and he didn't want that to bleed through here. With Jane, all he wanted to feel were good things. He felt that present irritation leave his body and focus on right here and now. He lifts an arm and rests it on the back of her head.
A relieved sigh. He can relax, at least. ]
As good as I feel when see you?
[ It's not a question that needs her to answer. He tangles his fingers in her hair as he holds her. ]
[It's good to have him there. Solid and real and not just words on a screen. The networked devices are handy for quick communication but they can't compare at all to having someone with you.
He apologises and she shakes her head, looking up at him.]
It's not your fault. Just who does that woman think she is? [Jane, of course, has no idea who Caster actually is. The family trees of Greek myth are large.]
Is she insane? Ugh. I should have hexed her.
[Grumble. She isn't showing any signs of moving out of the hold she has around his waist and she rests her head against him again.]
[Had she been less like herself - that is, easy to intimidate and not prone to facing danger head on - she might have been warier about being around Hypnos so openly right now.
As it happens she's neither of those things,
When he leans down to kiss her she sees it coming, but relaxes and tilts her head up to meet it. It's soft, chaste, and entirely lovely, but Jane brings up a hand and gently digs her fingers into Hypnos' hair with the obvious intention of not letting him go so easily.
She goes up on her toes, one hand in his hair and the other resting on his chest for balance, and presses deeper into that kiss with a heated flush rising to her cheeks.]
[ There's a small, happy sigh that escapes him. He feels those fingers in his hair, and she presses in to the kiss. Since she's not pulling back, he doesn't make the move to either. He moves his thumbs over her cheeks as he presses into it.
He's never really kissed someone like this before. He's never held someone like this before. He's never been the first one to kiss her either, he thinks. He still feels bad about what happened to her because she doesn't deserve this. But she's here with him and that's fine.
He doesn't want to stop. He closes his eyes, and decides to follow instinct and just go for it. He presses his tongue against the other's lips, a quiet question of permission. ]
[It's a tiny bit startling. She's never tried that before, but it feels entirely natural to just sink into it and part her lips. She grips the front of his shirt gingerly instead of simply resting her hand there, and her fingertips twitch gently against his scalp where they're buried in his hair.
They're both inexperienced here, but that doesn't stop the buzzing tingle that goes all the way down to her toes as she leans up to him.
When she finally does give him a soft push away from her, it's with a quiet gasp for air and a very obvious flush painted across her cheeks. She looks up at him with nothing short of wonder and combs her fingers through his hair for a moment before she drops that hand down.]
[ His cheeks are pretty pink, bright enough to stand out on the grey skin of his. He's warm all the way to the tips of his ears with that blush. He's pretty...happy. Really happy. Even as she nudges him back and he pulls away and he takes a breath for air, too. Her touches are soft and sweet.
[The part of her mind that's kicking her for asking to go out instead of inviting him in only makes her flush harder. Thankfully she's already pink enough that it doesn't seem all that different.]
I'll get my coat. [She tells him, shooting a quick smile up at him and ducking quickly inside the door to grab her coat from its peg. She's only half into it as she steps out again to pull the door closed behind her.
God, if she waits any longer she'll just pull him into the house.]
[ He takes her hand when she steps out with her coat, moving to walk beside her as they get on their way. He felt confident. That was weird enough a feeling on it's own given how rare that he experienced confidence. And he knows it's because he actually feels like someone is reciprocating feelings he has. ]

[ He can't help but keep his eyes locked on her. Being invited in hadn't even crossed his mind, although he realizes he wouldn't hate the idea of having her next to him for an entire night - sleeping, of course. Because it's nice to have someone close who you know cares about you - and that you care about. ]
[They're only walking side by side for a few moments before she lifts her hand up and slips it into his. She rubs her thumb against the back of his knuckles for a moment and then smiles up at him, leaning against his arm very briefly while they walk.]
Italian? What a funny thing to think of finding here. [Though why not, she supposes, when they have people of so many different worlds and cultures all living together.]
I haven't had Italian food very often, but I remember that I liked it.
[ It's almost funny how confident he feels with her tucked in next to him. He wouldn't have imagined what it felt like to be around someone who shares in your feelings like this. His fingers wrap around hers as they walk together. He does his best not to slouch when he walks, too. ]

[ He's gentle in how he speaks with her, though amused all the same. ]

[She turns her attention up to him when he speaks, and when he asks that question her eyes widen a little. Her fingers squeeze around his and she laughs, the sound bright and happy.]
Oh, Hypnos. I thought I already was your girlfriend.
[Well, not really... Courting is a little different where she's from, but when he asks her that she realises that she's been considering herself in that way from the first moment she decided that she was going to kiss him.]
I entirely expect you to be telling everyone that will listen.
[ In a way, he's been looking at her like she was for awhile, he thinks. But he also has picked up along the way that it's better to ask anyway. It's better to have that confirmation that one really wants to have something... well, official. That's how he understands it, at least. And the last thing he wants to do is make assumptions about a fresh relationship with someone he truly, genuinely likes. ]
I think you have been.
[ But the answer has cleared everything up, and he is happy and relieved because - he can say it now without wondering if that was the right thing to call her. And he thinks, he's not even surprised she answered so positively. He's not sure why he's not surprised. Maybe she just has made him feel... that confident and aware of how she feels about him, too. Beyond just the fact that they've kissed. ]
I will make sure everyone knows that I have an amazing woman by my side.
[ The words come without hesitation. Complimenting her is so easy for him. It's natural. ]
[Things haven't gone slowly with them. It's not the kind of courtship she would have expected herself to have, but she doesn't think she would have wanted it any other way. After all, if she'd left it too long someone else might have taken an interest.

She can hear the annoyance in his voice as he continues speaking, and gently tugs on his hand to pull him to a stop. He is far, far too tall for her to catch him by surprise (she thinks) but she tugs again and tips her head up until he gets the idea and leans down so she can kiss him.

She catches him by enough surprise at the offer that even when he leans in to kiss her, he's still a little flustered and the blush is bright on his cheeks. His ears are even a little hot, he notes. He had tried to calm down, really. He doesn't like being agitated by things, especially things that involve someone who he'd call family. He wants to move on. Jane wants him to move on, too. At least right now.
But it was still so fresh that he has to just push it back for now, he thinks. He doesn't want to ruin a date with Jane because he's upset about someone else. He likes who he is with. He likes her a lot, actually. So he takes the signal, and for the first time he can think about - he leans down to press a kiss to her lips. His hands move, pressing to cup her cheeks in his hands. He feels...
